92nd CMEF Concludes in Guangzhou: Guangdong Enterprises’ AI-Powered Medical Innovations Shine

Guangzhou, Sept. 29 (China South Network) – The 92nd China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF), a globally renowned barometer of the medical industry, concluded on September 29 after a four-day run at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou. Marking its first-ever debut in Guangzhou, the fair themed “Health · Innovation · Sharing – Jointly Mapping the New Blueprint of Global Healthcare” has emerged as a pivotal hub linking Asia-Pacific and the world, injecting robust impetus into the healthcare industry development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Boasting an unprecedented scale, the fair covered an exhibition area of nearly 160,000 square meters with 28 thematic pavilions, focusing on industry trends including intelligent technology application, localization of core components, international cooperation and full-cycle health management. It gathered nearly 3,000 enterprises from nearly 20 countries and regions, showcasing over 10,000 new products and attracting more than 120,000 professional visitors from medical institutions, research institutes and distribution sectors nationwide.

“AI+” emerged as a core buzzword at the fair, driving a wave of innovation across the medical device industry. Academician Zheng Hairong, Director of the National Center for High-performance Medical Devices Innovation, noted, “Cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence are reshaping the underlying logic of medical devices, shifting the industry from mechanical execution to autonomous cognition, experience-driven to data-driven, and general treatment to personalized precision medicine. China is gradually becoming a key source of innovation and emerging growth engine in the global medical device sector.”

Guangdong-based enterprises stole the spotlight with a array of AI-powered “black technologies”. Heyue Health from Guangzhou unveiled an AI medical service platform integrating healthcare big data with large AI models, while Shenzhen Zhiruitong Technology presented a “dual-heterogeneous AI computing architecture” providing stable computing support for complex medical image analysis. Zhongshan Xiaoshentong Innovation Technology showcased an embodied intelligent wheelchair robot equipped with AI control technology, which adapts to all terrains via advanced sensors and exclusive algorithms, offering barrier-free travel for people with mobility impairments.

As a key platform for global medical trade, the fair attracted buyers from over 130 countries and regions. The specially launched “WeMatch” program facilitated one-on-one precise matchmaking between exhibitors and purchasers, generating substantial international procurement demand. Incomplete statistics show that procurement inquiries from Bangladesh, Israel, Germany, Colombia and Australia covered medical consumables, test reagents, imaging equipment and endoscopic devices, with amounts ranging from tens of thousands to millions of US dollars.

Guangdong, a national highland for medical device industry with 4,883 manufacturers (3,066 producing Class II and III medical devices, accounting for 15.6% of the national total), leveraged the fair to expand both domestic and international markets. “We aim to bring our latest products to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe and America,” said representatives of several Guangdong exhibitors. Officials from Guangdong Department of Commerce stated that CMEF, as part of the “Guangdong Trade Nationwide” initiative, will continue empowering local enterprises to promote “Guangdong Manufacturing” globally. The fair’s success not only demonstrated China’s medical innovation strength but also highlighted the industry’s shift toward intelligence and globalization.
